Dan About Thailand

How I improved my kids education during this pandemic

With this pandemic impacting on all areas of our lives, perhaps the biggest impact for me was on my kids education. It has been nothing short of a disaster with their current schools online offer here in Thailand woefully inept.

I do have some empathy for the schools in Thailand – this online teaching solution is not what they were experienced or prepared for – that said, it’s not my issue, all I want is for my kids to receive a proper level of schooling.

We supplement these classes with two face to face Thai language lessons during the weekday late afternoon and a morning of teaching in Russian language every Saturday morning.

This blog – which I will vlog on shortly as I want to show you my kids being taught – is my elation with an online supplementary class taught by British teachers. I have enrolled my kids initially into one lesson per week – Maths every Tuesday from 6pm until 7pm. It is managed by the ‘British Learning Centre’ and costs 600 THB per 1 hour lesson, which you buy a block of 20 hours for 12k THB.

At last I found an online course being run and delivering lessons to the level I want and further more class sizes are kept to a maximum of 5 students. I was really impressed. They offer daily evening classes in Maths and English for all ages from 5 to 14 years old. Children are put into different class based on their age.

I am feeling much better about things now as I do feel concerned about my kids falling behind or missing out on quality education.
