The Malls in Bangkok are an experience. The major malls have concentrated on creating a lifestyle/shopping experience with bold, dynamic architecture and design combined with a spectacular range and variety of retail shops combined with culinary/food extravaganzas plus family attractions, Others have concentrated on a specific target audience offering just Clothing/Design or Electronics. Wherever you shop in Bangkok you can be assured of vast variety, good quality and friendly service. Good luck, you will need it!

Central World Siam

The largest shopping mall in Thailand and one of the largest in the world

With more than 550,00 square metres of retail shop space, CentralWorld Siam is more than a third larger that any other current mall in Bangkok with more than 500 shops, over 100 restaurants and cafes, 15 cinemas, gigantic Kid’s Zone and Learning Centre called Genius Planet Zone, two major department stores, a very trendy Food Court, extensive supermarket and large outdoor areas which are home to special events and Bangkok’s official New Year countdown. Located right in the centre of the Chidlom shopping area there is direct access to the BTS/Skytrain.

Siam Paragon

Siam Paragon is another spectacular mall offering something for everyone. From luxury cars to souvenirs and everything in between. Often called the centre of Bangkok due to it’s location next to the Siam Skytrain station, this Mall concentrates on luxury and experience with more than 250 shops, South East Asia’s largest aquarium and massive cinema complex and more food than you have seen anywhere else. Virtually every Luxury Ba=rand is represented here with floors devoted to ‘Fashion’, ‘Lifestyle & Leisure’, ‘IT World and restaurants and food outlets galore. A true shopping experience.

EmQuartier Bangkok

Take a rather forgotten area of Bangkok and create a shopping and dining experience par excellence, this is exactly what The Mall Group have achieved with their mega project transforming the Phrom Phong region into a lifestyle extravaganza. Located on either side of Sukhumvit road and directly connected to the Phrom Phong BTS/Skytrain this complex consists of the well established Emporium and it’s new sister the EmQuartier, a dazzling, futuristic development. Amongst the creative design is a vast list of designer brands. The 3 buildings are interconnected and also incorporate an open -ir area used for local festivals and entertainment. In addition to shopping this list is impressive with 2 massive food courts, up-market supermarket and after passing the waterfall, the unique Helix Quartier, Bangkok’s new culinary extravaganza.

Terminal 21

Also located on the bustling Sukhumvit road on the Asok BTS and junction, Terminal 21 has it’s own unique character and attraction. Located on 9 floors with more than 600 shops, a Cineplex, Gourmet Market, food court and more. Each floor/section has been named after famous cities around the world and you can experience the flair of Tokyo or Istanbul in the heart of Bangkok. In addition to the large brands Terminal 21 has provided smaller spaces for local Thai designers and entrepreneurs to sell to an International audience. Individual flairs and styles are prevalent at Terminal 21. Terminal 21 is also famous for it’s food and culinary offers with more than 50 restaurants and café’s tempting you with their delicious offers. Their Food Court is vast and is supposedly the cheapest in town with the owner reportedly subsidising food costs. It’s a vast choice and so cheap!

Platinum FashionMall Pratunam

Fashion, clothing & accessories! This sums up what you will find at Platinum Shopping Mall. It’s a cross between a street market, wholesale operation and shopping mall combined. Most of the more that 1,300 shops are also wholesalers, so you will see traders haggling over very large quantities. The fashion is mostly ladies and children’s and the choice is vast and the prices very low. Here you can also haggle on the price especially if you buy more articles from one shop. Look out for the special offers as many have rails with great clothing from just THB.100. Its hot and furious but the choice of styles is really incredible with many bargains hidden in between. Naturally in Bangkok food is never far away with a massive food court and variety of international fast food brands. Enjoy the experience without breaking the bank!

Pantip Plaza, Pratunam

Not one of the spectacular glass and design malls, Pantip Plaza has a rather run-down appearance but don’t let looks deceive you as inside it is a paradise for anything electronic, from computers, laptops, smart phones, cameras, surveillance systems and every imaginable accessory. Quite chaotic on some floors with techno nerds deep into dismantled computers, you will also find more modern shops with excellent, friendly staff. Even the most complicated request will be met by an answer of where to find it. However amongst the high quality goods one also find counterfeit programmes with are not recommended. Whilst the Mall is changing there are still a few old hands who are trying to sell off pornographic CD’s but a quick, No, suffices and you will not be bothered further. If you know what you want, you will find it cheaper in Pantip Plaza.

MBK Siam

A legend in Bangkok frequented by both tourists and locals looking for bargains from the more than 2,000 shops on the 8 floors of this bustling building. As always conveniently located with a direct connection from the National Stadium BTS station. There does not appear to be any order in where the shops are located. It is generally fashion on the lower floor, gold and electronics in the middle and everything else mixed together. Some of the clothing is from local manufacturers but the majority is from brand names. Use your common sense and appreciate that many of the brand articles are not genuine! If you are looking for souvenirs before you return home, MBK Siam is certainly your best bet with vast varieties of goods that will satisfy the people back home. There are also a range of create offers in dispersed amongst the multitude if stands/stores. As always in Thailand, food is not far away with a massive food court and all fast food brands represented.
