There are a few ways to get to Koh Phangan with many favouring the flight to Samui before taking the 30-minute ferry, which is certainly the most convenient. However during the high season these flights can be very expensive and I was being quoted 35,000 THB – around £800 – for a return flight from Bangkok, so I decided to take the ferry.
You can get a ferry from Chumpon or Surat Thani, both in the South of Thailand.
