At the age of 29, I turned my back on the relentless rat race in the UK, where the fast pace and aggressive strategies to sell and manipulate customers dominated. It was not for me. During my decade in sales and marketing with Coca-Cola, I saw firsthand how we are constantly bombarded and nudged into buying things.
I wanted a cleaner, more authentic life and sought this through a change of country. Now, I am not naïve enough to think such consumer-driven selling is unique to the UK, but I personally wanted to carve out my own space.
