I came to Bangkok for the wedding of a long-time friend, Ian, and his Thai bride, Napat — a beautifully planned celebration bringing two cultures together in a stunning setting.
This wasn’t the legal paperwork side of things, but the big celebration with family and friends. When Ian asked if I’d like to be the celebrant for the ceremony, I didn’t hesitate for a second — I jumped at the chance.
I called it being the “vicar.” Ian quickly corrected me with “celebrant.” We laughed — and the joke stuck. Titles aside, it was an honour to stand there and play a small part in a very special moment.
A genuine coming together of cultures, people, and stories — all set against one of Bangkok’s most impressive venues. A day I’ll always remember.
