Thai cuisine is world-renowned for good reason. From fiery noodles to beautifully balanced curries and stir-fries, it has earned its reputation as one of the world’s great culinary traditions. Yet one Thai favourite remains relatively unknown outside the country: Mookata.

Part barbecue, part hotpot, Mookata brings the cooking experience to your table. Grill a selection of meats on the domed centre section while the surrounding moat simmers with a rich, flavourful broth, perfect for vegetables, noodles, seafood and dumplings. The result is a sociable dining experience that combines great food with plenty of fun.

On this visit, my kids and I headed to Rompho BBQ on Second Road in Jomtien, where an all-you-can-eat feast costs a very reasonable 299 THB per person.
