These are indeed curious times and anyone trying to play down this ‘new normal’ era just need to walk the streets of Thailand that were once full of tourists.
For the casual onlooker it is sad, for the business owner reliant on tourists it is tragic. As I walked along Pattaya Beach Road Sunday late afternoon, it wasn’t a disaster but it was also far from good. Many restaurants remain closed and the pavements were practically empty.
