For some reason Pattaya is one of the most contested regions in Thailand with people both loving and hating the city – and, for me, the hate is unfounded and based on the legacy that the city has fast shook off.
Yes, the city has a red light nightlife area – but it is not in your face – and so it can be ignored. Pattaya has a gorgeous bay, a wealth of attractions and restaurants and is nicely positioned for Bangkok, the airport and access to the islands (you can fly to Samui from Utapao in just over an hour).
The vlog below is my opinion on the city as I take a stroll along Pattaya Beach Road on a Sunday morning with my family.
